Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Multifamily Financial Manager with hands-on property management experience to assist in overseeing the financial performance of a portfolio of multifamily assets. This role is responsible for coordination and oversight of monthly financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis, and serves as a key partner to on-site operations teams and senior leadership. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of accrual-based accounting, property-level operations, and asset performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze monthly accrual-based financial statements for assigned properties
  • Support and participate in the month-end close process, including accruals, reclasses, and ensuring timely, accurate reporting
  • Identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, and trends; escalate to the Director as necessary and partner with accounting and operations to resolve issues
  • Work with on-site teams to ensure financial reports are complete, accurate, and delivered on schedule
  • Assist in preparation and delivery of monthly variance analyses, partnering with leadership and on-site teams to provide clear explanations
  • Monitor key performance indicators including expenses, and collections
  • Track performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement and partner with Director to create action plans
  • Assist in coordinating and overseeing the annual budgeting process, including development of detailed assumptions at the line-item level
  • Lead ongoing forecasting and reforecast cycles in collaboration with operations and Director
  • Work with on-site teams to maintain alignment between budgets, forecasts, and actual performance
  • Perform regular cash flow analysis to anticipate funding needs and support decision-making
  • Participate in invoice coding and approval workflows to ensure expenses align with budgets
  • Initiate and track wire transfers in compliance with internal controls
  • Maintain a strong understanding of property operations to ensure accurate financial interpretation
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses related to property performance, expense management, and capital planning
  • Maintain organized reporting tools, and supporting documentation
  • Identify opportunities to enhance financial performance, improve efficiencies, and mitigate risk across the portfolio. 
  • Must be present with the ability to move throughout our corporate office to address property and portfolio financial related matters, ensuring effective communication with staff and vendors.
  • Position may be required to perform duties outside their normal responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in multifamily financial management or asset management
  • Prior on-site property management experience required
  • Strong knowledge of accrual-based accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and data analysis
  • Experience with property management/accounting systems such as Yardi, MRI, RealPage, or similar
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across corporate and on-site teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and handle confidential information with discretion
  • Work authorization (required)
Annual salary range: $120,000 - $140,000
